The Division also oversees the collection and reporting of data for the Legislature and Public Defender Taskforce.

Applications are now being accepted for the Inaugural Mississippi Public Defender Trial School. The training will take place in Jackson, MS at Mississippi College School of Law , January 15-18, 2025. This training is an interactive, intense, on-your-feet learning experience taught by nationally recognized trial lawyers and coaches. Professional actors will serve as clients and true-to-life witnesses. While the costs for many trial schools can range in the thousands of dollars, tuition for this Trial School is an unbelievable low price of $600. The tuition can be paid upon admission to the Trial School. Hotel accommodations are not a part of the fee and can be paid directly to the hotel. Slots are VERY limited. Please complete an application today. Registration and training details will be send to those applicants who are accepted into the trial school.
